The Impact of Fleet Management on the Service Delivery. Case of Maria’s Cargo Import and Export Company Limited

Abstract

This study sought to establish the impact of fleet, management practices and performance of Maria’s Cargo Import and Export Company. The objectives of the study were: To examine the impact of vehicle telematics on the service quality of Maria’s Cargo Import and Export Company Limited, to assess the impact of driver management on time delivery of Maria’s Cargo Import and Export Company Limited, to examine the impact of fuel management on reduced costs of Maria’s Cargo Import and Export Company Limited. The study used a simple random method on a population which entailed the employees in different departments like administration, Stores, Operations/Production departments and others. A total of 15 respondents were selected for the study on 30 responded making the research valid. The researcher used simple random sampling techniques in selecting the samples. The study was guided by a qualitative paradigm. Interviews were carried out face to face, which provided sufficient data from the sample selected, and in order to get detailed data. Data from the interview transpose scripts was analyzed using pie charts and bar graphs. The study findings confirmed that the drivers face a number of challenges with traffic jam being their biggest challenge and accidents and limited time with their families. The study recommends that organizations should ensure effective use of vehicle tracking systems for revolution of fleet management.
