Abstract

This study investigates the influence of Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) systems on procurement efficiency and cost-effectiveness within the procurement department at the Office of the Auditor General, Kampala. Electronic government procurement systems have been widely adopted to address issues of inefficiency, corruption, and lack of transparency in public procurement. Despite the recognized benefits, many implementations face significant challenges such as technological barriers, insufficient training, and resistance to change. This research seeks to assess the effectiveness of e-GP in streamlining procurement processes, evaluate its financial benefits, and examine its role in enhancing transparency and integrity in government procurement. By addressing these objectives, the study aims to provide insights into how e-GP can be leveraged to optimize procurement practices, improve cost management, and foster trust in public procurement systems. The findings will contribute to understanding the factors influencing the success of e-GP systems and offer recommendations for improving their implementation and utilization in public sector procurement.
