dc.description.abstractABSTRACT The study examined the effect of community based organizations on the social economic development. a case study of MUNOMUKABI CBO Sironko Town Council, Sironko District while specifically find out the effect of rural training on improved living conditions in Sironko Town Council; assess the role of advocacy on employment in Sironko Town Council. establish the relationship between IGA and economic development in Sironko Town Council. A sample size of 32 respondents was sampled using purposive or judgmental and Simple Random sampling under the non-probability and Probability sampling technique out of the 42 in the Population. The findings from the study that there was a close difference in gender composition of respondents was a result that all genders are involved in community based projects. Despite the slight difference in the participation, the sample was fairly selected noted among the females, most of the respondents were okay with their projects were doing well. The study indicated that most (18%+29%) of the respondents agreed that that the organisation organization carries out educational training and that the 68% of the respondents agreed that organization is engaged in poverty eradication programs, with most of the respondents disagreeing that organization sponsors agricultural programs that promote sustainability with most (46%) of the respondents disagreeing that organization give community members tools and resources to better their own lives and the lives of those around them with 42% of the respondents indicating that there is difficulty in attracting and retaining qualified personnel in technical positions of your organization as most of its work is volunteering that most of the respondents agreed that there is difficulty in attracting and retaining qualified personnel in technical positions of your organization as most of its work is volunteering. Most (32%+25%) of the respondents agreed that Communities have been trained by Community Based Organizations in different activities to uplift their income levels and 25% disagreed that Communities have been trained by Community Based Organizations in different activities to uplift their income levels with (29%+25%) of the respondent agreed that Various activities of Community Based Organizations in areas has reduced on the poverty levels though participating in these activities while with 47% of the respondents agreeing that Community Based Organizations have built their organizational capacity. Finally the findings presented indicated that most of the respondents agreed that Productive and income generating activities utilize local available resources and generally aim to benefit the entire community and 45% of the respondents involved accepted that Well-being (and in essence social vulnerability) is often more readily measured in terms of tangible aspects such as income and consumption, savings, food security, nutritional and health status line with study by Word Bank, 2002) on the Productive and income generating activities utilize local available resources and generally aim to benefit the entire community. The study therefore concluded that Rural training improved the living condition and hence the Income for majority of members of with interventions increased significantly after being engaged on the different intervening starting with the different trainings conducted and poverty eradication interventions and consequently improved in of the poverty indicators. Participation of members in decision making meetings of the community based projects was very high indicated in the findings above. Community based projects in the study area were reducing poverty among their members by urging them to establish different economic activities and also assisting them to look for markets of their products. Despite the efforts made by the CBOs in reducing poverty among its members, the following problems were still a challenge securing market of their products, drought, poor means of transport to transport products to market centers and many others and that the Ministry should ensure that community involvement is intensified in such a way that reports are always given to the communities as beneficiaries of the projects. This can be through funding, sensitization programs, sponsoring radio adverts to run and ensure that communities are fully aware of government programs in relation to their projects.
