| dc.description.abstract | This study was carried out to examine the effects of local revenue collection on service delivery in Jinja City Council. The researcher employed descriptive research design to describe the phenomenon as it exists, comparative research design to compare local revenue collection and service delivery in Jinja City Council, associational research design to get the causal effect and relationship between local revenue and service delivery in Jinja City Council. A sample of 40 respondents was approached to fill the questionnaires comprised of secretary for finance, senior finance secretary, and revenue officer, members of tender board, sub-accountants and selected business owners in the City. The findings of the study indicate that increase in local revenue collection leads to increased service delivery and thus a significant relationship exists between local revenue collection and service delivery. From the findings of the study, it is evident that local Governments need to put in more effort to enhance local revenue collection since service delivery is a significant indicator of local revenue performance. The study recommends that the local revenue collected should be well utilized in the provision of services that benefit majority of the people in the district like health services, education, road networks, street lights among others. | |
