Abstract
The study was aimed at finding how management skills affect the performance of employees and were guided by the following specific objectives; to investigate the relationship between time management skills and employee performance, interpersonal skills and employee performance, and to examine the relationship between entrepreneurship skills on employee performance. The study was determined by a positive hypothesis, “There is a direct relationship between management skills and employee performance. The researcher employed a case study design where questionnaires were used as primary tools using purposive and probability sampling techniques and document review as a secondary tool for data collection which was analysed using descriptive analysis and results were presented in tables and graphs.
The key study findings were; that there is a significant relationship between time management and employee performance. Objective approaches to time generally consider time as a uniform commodity where people view it much as they do money, the performance of employees at the Roofings Limited Uganda above, it can be stated the research implications Increasing interpersonal skills will have an impact on improving performance employee; thus if you want to improve employee performance at Roofings Limited Uganda, it can be done by increasing employee interpersonal skills by strengthening the skills of employees in convincing people, there is a moderate relationship between entrepreneurial skills and performance. However, entrepreneurial skills cannot account for the total amount of variation in performance. Other factors seem to predict the performance of firms, which this study could not capture, due to its scope. Generally, there is a significant relationship between management skills and employee performance.
The lack of intersection of theoretical knowledge from the classroom and practice from the ground to gain managerial skills created a gap, this study was therefore conducted to find ways of reducing it. From the study, it was concluded that management skills specifically time management skills, interpersonal skills, and entrepreneurship skills were lacking due to issues that arose in those areas. Therefore, it was recommended that adhere strictly to effective time management to prototype services for their customers, make use of technology time savers and use the most appropriate form of technology for your purpose. Every person must treat time very carefully because nothing affects the bottom line of an organization more than the time effectiveness of its people.
The company was recommended to; endeavour to adopt and conduct appropriate interpersonal skills because appropriate skills provide a solid foundation for the company’s operations and enhanced employee performance, recommends several viable options that can help bridge the gap between entrepreneurial skills and employee performance, assist Roofings Limited Uganda to modify their entrepreneurial programs and promote an entrepreneurial culture among the employees. Foremost, the organisation should institute fully fledged entrepreneurial programs at all levels to promote an entrepreneurial culture.
