The Impact of Supply Chain Mapping Techniques on Risk Management in Crown Beverages Limited (Pepsi)

Abstract

The study explored the impact of supply chain mapping techniques on risk management in Crown Beverages Limited (Pepsi). It specifically focused on; establishing the effect of data tracing mitigation on risk management, finding out the impact of supply chain mapping techniques on risk identification and examining the effect of stakeholder identification on occurrence. The study was carried out using a cross sectional survey research design where both quantitative and qualitative research approaches were also used. The data was collected using questionnaires and interviews during the data collection, both purposive and simple random sampling methods were used. A sample size of 83 respondents who are management and employees from Crown Beverages Limited (Pepsi) was also used in the study although 80 responded to the study. From the findings, it was revealed that various risk management strategies and practices have a significant positive impact on the organization. Implementing data tracing measures enhances risk identification accuracy, improves response timeliness, and reduces the likelihood of data breaches. Supply chain mapping techniques offer valuable insights into supplier-related risks, promoting effective risk prioritization and interdepartmental collaboration, although their effectiveness in uncovering hidden risks remains a subject for further investigation. Stakeholder identification emerges as a powerful driver of proactive risk management culture, facilitating the recognition of emerging risks and opportunities, comprehensive risk impact assessment, and the avoidance of critical risk oversights. Furthermore, aligning risk management with stakeholder interests stands out as a crucial factor in minimizing risk occurrence and severity. Finally, the study recommended that Crown Beverages Limited should enhance its supply chain mapping techniques by leveraging advanced technologies to increase visibility into supplier-related risks, particularly in procurement, production, and distribution. Continuous improvement should be ingrained in the company’s practices through regular updates and analyses of supply chain maps. Promoting cross-functional collaboration is essential for improved risk communication and prioritization. Lastly, aligning risk management with stakeholder interests is vital to reduce risk occurrence and severity by integrating stakeholder perspectives into strategies effectively.
