Abstract
The study examines the ethical dilemmas involved in child abuse cases. A case study in Nsambya village, Makindye district. It was done from Nsambya village where 44 respondents were randomly selected wit expected sample size of 44 respondents. The study was guided by three objectives which were; To investigate the effectiveness of confidentiality protocols in child abuse cases. To examine the ethical implications of obtaining informed consent from children and caregivers in child abuse cases. To explore cultural considerations in identifying and addressing child abuse cases in Nsambya Village The study was conducted in two phases that’s to say investigating the ethical dilemmas involved in child abuse cases . The research design was both qualitative and quantitative in nature and the instrument used to obtain data was a questionnaire. Data was analyzed and presented using tables. According to the research findings, the major forms of child abuse are physical, emotional, child neglect and sexual abuse. Research revealed that the major causes of ethical dilemmas is that different societies have different cultures. The researcher was able to draw the following recommendations, effective counseling to the abused children, government monitoring cases of child abuse, punishing of the abusers and there is also need to educate both parents and children about the rights of children. In conclusion, the researcher recommends that children should be properly supervised at home and they should not be left alone in lonely places without supervision from their caretakers. Supervision ensures that children are well protected from all kinds of abuses. Children should also be taught how to protect themselves against child abuse. Therefore, they should be told the signs and be encouraged to report cases of child abuses whenever they are abused by their parents, strangers and fellow friends. Educating children about their right to privacy and confidentiality. Teaching them how to recognize situations where confidentiality may be breached and how to seek help and create safe spaces within schools, community centers, and online platforms where children can share their experiences confidentially. Ensuring that children feel comfortable seeking assistance without fear of judgment. Additionally, empower children to speak up about their experiences. Encourage them to trust professionals while understanding the limits of confidentiality.
