The Impact of Youth Livelihood Project on the Lives of Youth Ages 18-30 Years Within Central Division Mukono District

Abstract

In order to understand the socioeconomic possibilities and challenges that young people in Mukono, Uganda's Central Division—ages 18 to 30—face, this study examines their daily lives in that region. The study looks into how these young people manage their careers, studies, and entrepreneurial endeavors in the fast urbanizing environment. It draws attention to the systemic obstacles to secure employment, including the widespread effects of unemployment, restricted access to money, and inadequate skill development. The study also looks at how young livelihoods are shaped by social networks, governmental regulations, and non-governmental organizations. Using a mixed-methods approach that incorporates focus groups, interviews, and surveys, the research offers a thorough examination of the variables affecting young people's livelihood strategies. Policymakers, development professionals, and community leaders can use the findings to inform the design of focused programs that will improve the economic empowerment and social inclusion of young people in Mukono. The report ends with suggestions for improving education, providing vocational training, and supporting youth-led businesses in order to promote sustainable livelihoods.
